League of Eight  

For the 2008/2009 season Burnham will again have 5 teams in  the Berks and Bucks League of Eight.

 As for last season, Burnham 'A' and 'B' are both in Division 1

Burnham 'C'  are in  Division 2, where they will be joined by newly promoted Burnham 'D'.

Burnham ‘E’, the Burnham Academy team, are in Division 5.

Butler Analysis

Butler scoring is a way of analysing the performance of a pair by comparing its score with the average of the two "middle" scores on each board (i.e. omitting the highest and lowest score).  It gives an indication of how the pair has contributed to the match result. As with all methods of bridge scoring the result is susceptible to some degree of luck, but over several matches the Butler record of a pair gives a good indication of how well they are doing. (Note that the total of the Butler scores rarely adds up to the same as the match result).
