Competition Rules
1. Annual pairs championship
All normal Monday evening Pairs sessons are included. Pairs must acquire a minimum of 15 scores to qualify, and for every three scores over 15 the outstanding worst score is dropped. So, with 21 scores, the worst two are dropped; with 24 the worst three etc. The pair with the highest average of the remaining scores will be the winners.
2. Bob Adair Trophy
Swiss pairs played four times a year on the third Monday of
the
month. See the calendar for dates.
Points will be awarded as follows:

The winner will be the individual who accumulates the most points over the year.
3. Gwen Stoneham Teams Trophy
Multiple teams of 4 played seven times a year on the the third Monday of the month - see calendar for specific dates. The winner will be the individual with the best aggregate IMP score over the season. Players must play four times to qualify, and anyone who plays all six times will have their worst IMP score dropped in determining their final score.
4. Peter Hall Trophy
Awarded to the best individual result in League of 8
matches over the season. The winner
will be the player with the best aggregate
5. Raymond Worrall Improvers’ Trophy
For pairs who qualify for the current and previous year’s pairs championships. Awarded to the pair with the largest improvement in their pairs championship average compared with the previous year.
6. Individual Master Point Competition (the Chairman’s Cup)
Awarded to the individual who has accumulated the most master points on club nights during the year, but who has not won any of the above competitions.
General
Only players who are members of Burnham Bridge Club by 31st December will be eligible for club competitions. On joining prior to this date, previous scores for the year will be included.
The competition year runs from 1st April to 31st March, except that for the Peter Hall Trophy it runs for the League of 8 season.
